The Garden Patch is a community-driven
urban agriculture initiative of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
You may have seen it if you’ve gone by the 900 block of 3rd Avenue North. Each
year people transform this vacant city-owned lot into a thriving green garden!
In the last three years it has yielded over 55,000 pounds of produce.
Permaculture Saskatchewan member and Urban Agriculture Coordinator at the Garden Patch, Brit MacDonald, will show us around and tell us about the program.
The Garden Patch will provide the burgers/buns, and condiments, some lentil burgers as well as cups, napkins, forks and plates. Please bring a salad, fruit, or dessert.
The Garden Patch is located on the 900 block of 3rd Avenue North.
Arrival time is 6 pm and we will eat at 6:30.
After we eat Brit will give us a tour of the garden and then we’ll share ideas on how the Garden Patch might continue to engage people as well as how ecological principles might be incorporated in to the garden.
Please
RSVP to info@permasask.ca so Brit knows how many burgers to
provide and let us know your dietary preference – beef burger or lentil burger.
Everyone welcome. We hope to see you there.
