The People’s Climate March
New York Experiences – Reasons for Going
Time: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Place: The Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre
202 Avenue C South in Saskatoon
Please join us for our November meeting and potluck where we’ll focus on the recent People’s Climate March and why Saskatchewan people journeyed to New York to join the main march.
Permasask member, Kaitlyn Harvey will talk about her experience at the People’s Climate March in New York City. The People’s Climate March took place on September 21st, 2014. This was the largest international rally for action on climate change in history, held on the eve of the UN Climate Summit, to call on world leaders to commit to serious action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. While solidarity rallies were held around the world, including here in Saskatoon, Kaitlyn and several other people from Saskatchewan made the trip to the main march in New York City, where over 400,000 people from around North America joined together to demand action on climate change. She will be sharing some of the things she experienced on this trip and her reasons for going, and will show a slideshow of photographs she took during the march.
Doors open at 6pm. We will eat at 6:30. After we clean up Kaitlyn will begin her presentation – approximately 7:15 pm.
Everyone welcome.
