We are changing things up a bit and for our July potluck and meeting we’ll be heading out to Permaculture Saskatchewan member Bonnie Lawrence’s farm (about a twenty minute drive from the city), where she has lived for over 30 years.
Arrival time will be between 5:30 and 6:00 pm at Bonnie’s farm and we will begin a walk-around, at 6:00 pm sharp at the garden near the house. Bonnie will lead us on a tour of the land giving us some history of the place, sharing her thoughts, concerns, challenges and successes.
After the walk-about we’ll return to the house and share a potluck supper while we talk about what we’ve seen and share our ideas.
So come out to the country. Walk the land; see the gardens, orchard, prairie, the far-ranging caragana . . .
This will be a great opportunity for city dwellers to see and talk about the questions and issues faced by someone who lives in the country and who loves the land. And it will be a chance for rural dwellers to share their experiences and insights.
Wear footwear suitable for tromping about the prairie. Bring mosquito repellant, possibly a hat and sunscreen. Bring some food to share.
Please let us know if you are coming and we will send you a map to Bonnie’s. Also let us know if you need a ride or can offer a ride. Email: info@permasask.ca
Hope to see you there. Everyone welcome.
“Although very new to some of the permaculture concepts I have quickly incorporated the ideas of not transporting nutrients (weeds, brush etc.) off site. The promise of less work was irresistible and saving trips to the dump/ waste transfer system even better.” – Bonnie Lawrence
